June Review
Goodbye, June gloom
June gloom is coming to a close along with the accompanying barometric pressure headaches (yay!). July is officially summer (I mean, the summer solstice was June 21st, so that means we are in it!) Looking forward to poolside reading, AMC A-List-maxxing, and finding a spot by the sea to write and to ponder.
Saying goodbye and thank you to June and the slow transition into summer. June felt like a blurry sort of haze that flew by (due to the gloom, perhaps?). To me at least, it was a month of figuring out — finding work/life balance, scheduling summer trips, learning Substack features (Hello, logo on email banner!), ideating the rest of my year, attempting to make career moves, searching for who I want to be (but that’s always, I think). This June felt like floating along down a pleasant river, and now, somehow, I’ve reached the land’s edge.
Current reads ;)
♡ The Movement by Clara Bingham - This is a great overview of the feminist movement between 1963-1973, told as an oral history from the voices of the women who shaped it.
♡ The City Edit - A recent Substack newsletter I’ve been loving! Reading it makes me feel like I’m living in a rom-com!
New books added to the list:
♡ Pool House by Mary H.K. Choi
♡ Strangers by Belle Burden
♡ Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash
Wish list:
♡ Weird and fun shoes (need more)
♡ Disneyland magic key pass
Things watched:
♡ Sheep Detectives (S.O.S. — absolutely emotionally wrecked me!)
♡ Obsession
♡ Backrooms
Line items to address and bold(ish) statements:
♡ Froyo is back ;P
♡ Philz is also back (if it ever left)
♡ Dave & Buster’s is a vibe, and I’d like to personally thank both Dave and Buster.
♡ There should be a setting on Libby that stops you before placing another hold stating the following: “Hey, buddy! I know for a fact you cannot get to all of these books in the next month. Please stop being optimistic and save them for later!”
Summer Checklist:
♡ Swimming and more swimming
♡ Writing near body of water
♡ Need to eat a sandwich and chips, poolside, stat!
♡ Full ‘Summer I Turned Pretty’ rewatch
♡ Kicking off July with Minions & Monsters, of course
(bello!)

omg love all of this and so honored to be included!! thank you so much for reading!
If you’re ever up to writing about it, I’d love to hear about picture books, chapter books, etc. that shaped your childhood/teenagehood :)
